The Malawi High Commission in London safeguards and promotes Malawi’s political and socio-economic interests in the United Kingdom and other countries of accreditation such as Finland, Iceland, Denmark, Norway and Sweden. Currently, Mr. James C.G. Ali is the Charge d’Affaires ad interim for the Mission.
Guided by Malawi’s foreign policy and the Malawi Growth and Development Strategy, the mandate of the mission is to promote and maintain sound and effective socio – economic and political relations between Malawi and the countries of accreditation including Scotland; strengthen diplomatic ties, economic and trade relations with countries of accreditation; enhance the image and visibility of Malawi in the countries of accreditation; promote trade and foreign direct investment to Malawi and market Malawi as an attractive tourist destination; facilitate educational and cultural links between Malawi and countries of accreditation; secure technical and development assistance through multi & bilateral relations; facilitate mobilization of external resources; and enhance Malawi’s participation in the Commonwealth.
To harness the Diaspora’s professional skills and realize synergies in its endeavors to develop Malawi, the mission strengthens its interaction with Malawian communities and charitable organizations in the countries of accreditation by engaging them in dialogue, involving them in mission activities and participating in their events.
Lastly, the mission is committed to continue providing services and assistance to Malawians living in the countries of accreditation, multilateral and bilateral partners, investors, tourists, charitable organizations and business people.
