PLEASE NOTE:
Visas for Malawi, only accords one permission, that they will enter Malawi within the validity period of the Visa, subject to fulfilling other entry requirements, and that the validity period of the Visa is not necessarily your permitted days to stay/reside in Malawi. You are given the permitted days to reside in Malawi at the port of entry by the Immigration officers.

All nationals from countries that require Malawians to pay for visa to enter their countries are required to obtain a visa to enter Malawi. There is one general category of Visa for all travellers. 

VISA CAN BE OBTAINED AT ANY PORT OF ENTRY INTO MALAWI FOR TRAVELLERS UNDER CATEGORY 2 OR ON THE VISA WEBSITE USING THIS LINK FOR ALL VISA CATEGORIES.

The following categories of nationals and offices are exempted from the new visa requirements:

  • Nationals from Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) countries, except Angola.
  • Nationals from the Common Market for East and Southern Africa (COMESA)
  • Diplomats and Government Officials.
  • Nationals from all countries that do not require Malawians to pay Visa fees when they travel to such countries.

  • Nationals from the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) countries, except for those countries that require Malawians to have a Visa within SADC;

  • Nationals from the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) countries, except for those countries that require Malawians to have a Visa within COMESA;

  • All Diplomatic and Service/Official Passport holders to be issued with a Gratis (Free)Visa.

  • Visa arrangements in Malawi are on a reciprocal basis as such the list is subject to change from time to time,
  • Visa fees are payable in United States Dollars (USD)($),
