On 1st July, 2026, the Malawi High Commission in London had the pleasure of hosting several distinguished Malawian Chevening Scholars during a courtesy call paid to His Excellency the High Commissioner, Dr. Thomas Bisika.
The visit provided a unique platform for the High Commissioner and the scholars to engage on various topics related to their academic journeys, the future development of Malawi, and the crucial role that international education plays in fostering global partnership.
Dr. Bisika expressed immense pride in the achievements of the Chevening scholars, recognizing them as ambassadors of Malawian dedication, intellect, and ambition. The group shared insights into their diverse fields of study across top-tier UK universities, emphasizing their commitment to applying their new knowledge and skills back home in Malawi.
"Our young scholars are the bedrock of our future," noted High Commissioner Bisika. "The knowledge they acquire through prestigious programs like Chevening is an investment in Malawi's growth. We are delighted to welcome them here today to reaffirm our support."
The positive energy of the meeting was encapsulated in several memorable moments.

A highlight of the courtesy call was the presentation of a beautiful tote bag, personalized with the iconic logo: "Visit Malawi – The Warm Heart of Africa." This gift symbolized the scholars' shared desire to promote their country and encourage tourism, highlighting the tourism slogan's central message of warmth and hospitality.
The mission’s initiative to present the "Warm Heart of Africa" promotional material underscored the scholars' proactive stance in promoting the nation's identity and potential beyond academics.
The Malawi High Commission extends its sincere congratulations to all Chevening Scholars, represented by Alpha Kishindo, Alfred Gadama, Mirriam Francesca Nkosi, Slyviah Chisi, Dr. Issac Yiwombe and Evans Kagwira, and wishes them continued success in their academic endeavors and their future leadership roles.
