His Excellency the President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera is expected to attend the Global Education Summit in London from the 28th to the 29th of July, making it his first official visit to the United Kingdom.

His Excellency the President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has declared the Covid-19 crisis in Malawi a national disaster. The President has appealed to the world to help Malawi battle the crisis which is threatening to cripple its health services.

Malawi’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom Kena Mphonda says he is overwhelmed by the response of Malawians in the diaspora and friends of Malawi in the UK and the whole of Europe have shown towards helping the country in its fight against COVID-19 19.

The UK government has put restrictions for travellers from Malawi into the UK. From 4am on Saturday 9 January, visitors arriving into the UK who have been in or transited through Malawi in the previous 10 days will not be permitted entry.
